Erik, Jennie and Graham Linthorst

They say that one out of every 150 children have Autism. Really? Or could it be something else?

That's what Erik and Jennie Linthorst wondered when their son, Graham, was given the diagnosis of Autism at fifteen months. Graham didn't fit neatly into any of the set categories but his behavior, to those observing him, pointed to Autism. What do parents do when they're given such a diagnosis but believe in their hearts something else is amiss? RESEARCH!

Erik spent countless hours researching not only diagnoses but treatments while his beautiful wife, Jennie, did everything in her power to help her son "tune in" to his world and be the best he can be. Their story is touching, heart-wrenching and familiar to those of us who've gone through the same struggle.

I had the pleasure of speaking with Erik recently. He is an amazing father and Jennie is one of the strongest Mum out there. They put their story out there to educate parents in similar situations. Go with what your gut tells you, find answers in other places and don't just stick with the first opinion simply because it's more easily known or funded. Find what works best for your child and never, ever give up.

Erik and Jennie are inspirational because they aspire us to tell our own stories. They've also given a face to a disorder that many people still believe to be "invisible."

Maybe those people will finally see.

Please Erik's website at www.autisticlike.com today. We plan to update this page with listings of showings and other fantastic news.

Thank you, Linthorsts, for making such a huge difference and for being brave enough to share your story.
